I (Elizabeth) just finished watching Dateline on NBC as they did a documentary on the possible war to come in Sudan. George Clooney is trying to use his fame for good by bringing awareness in every way possible. It seems that the country of Sudan is about to have a big election and vote in January 2011. The turn out at its worse would cause a war between Northern Sudan and Southern Sudan. A war between Muslims and Christian. A war that could be the bloodiest the country has every seen. My heart is broken. Watching the faces of both young and old can't help but make me think about our little piece of Africa. Why does God allow things like this to go on? Why don't these people get enjoy the freedom I take for granted everyday? Why do they suffer when the only understanding of suffering I know is not having enough money for a friday night pizza? Then it occurs to me these our God's people. His heart aches far worse then mine does now. He knows this kind of suffering. He sent His Son to suffer so that His people could be free. What does paradise look like in their eyes? Does it look like my posh life in the USA. Lord let my heart be broken for those who suffer. Let me see outside of my own blinders.
Tonight has stirred an even deeper desire to adopt from Ethopia. Please pray with us for this process. Pray that our giants and obstacles will be no match for our God's big dream for us. As I am reading through the "Dream Giver" by Bruce Wilkinson I have learned that every dream given to us by the Father is never easy but the journey and outcome is well worth it. May this experience strengthen our faith. May we see through the Father's lenses. Peace and love, Elizabeth
